Many fields and age groups have only two teams and therefore a standing game against the other teams. These are not shown on the schedule for simplicity.
Starting immediately community soccer is paused for three weeks in compliance with the revised restrictions on outdoor sports. While these restrictions technically come into effect at 12:01am on Sunday May 9th we are being cautious and proactive to protect the health and safety of our community.
As per the announcement:
Outdoor Activities
All outdoor sports and recreation activities are prohibited, except with members of your household, or your two close contacts if you live alone. This includes:
all group physical activities, such as team sports, fitness classes, training sessions
While I am optimistic and look forward to resuming soccer later this season, I also recognize that the situation is fluid and may change. I will send out additional updates as the situation evolves.
Thanks again to all of our amazing volunteers who put in extra time and effort so far this season, I really appreciate everything.
After yesterday’s announcement by the provincial government I’ve received a few questions by email.
We are able to go ahead with the season and our start date of April 24 (weather permitting!) Soccer will look different than it has in the past, but I know that the kids will still have lots of fun. I hope that by May things will ease and we can get some games in.
Key parts of the protocol are: – No games between different teams – No scrimmage games within teams – All players must remain 2m from each other – Maximum of 10 people (including players and coaches) on the field at one time.
We are a recreational league focused on younger kids, and the main goals have always been to encourage youth to be outdoors, improve physical literacy, and have a chance to chance to be physically active with their peers. If you’ve ever watched U4 you know that they occasionally use a soccer ball too! While the conditions this year aren’t ideal I am confident that we can still have a fun, active season.
I hope this finds you well and managing life
in this ‘new normal’! Planning is underway for the Spring soccer season and we
are hopeful that we can have a strong soccer season this year while managing
the ongoing risks of COVID-19.
With that in mind, registration for
families of coaches and assistant coaches will open on February 1! If
you’re planning to coach this year, please register prior to the 13th
as we base the number of available player registrations on the number of
coaches that we have sign. Registration for everyone else will open on Sunday,
February 14th and will close on February 28th.
We are hopeful that we will be able to have a
largely normal looking season this year, more on that below. If we have to
cancel the season again, you will receive a full refund minus the $5 to $7
processing fees that we are charged by credit card companies. Our season will
run from April 24th until June 26th.

Volunteers Needed!
As you know the TCA Soccer League is driven by
the fantastic volunteers that Coach, assist, organize, schedule, and
coordinate. If you’re a parent that’s interested in Coaching (there is no
experience necessary!) please register when it opens on February 1st. The
number of kids that can play is limited by the number of coaches we have. Coaching
is a fantastic way to spend time with your kids, stay in shape, and meet new
people in the community; plus we’ll give you a snazzy new whistle! For more on
coaching you can go here http://soccer.tuscanyca.org/for-parents/
RESPONSIBLE RETURN TO SOCCER
Like you, we are excited to return to soccer and the game we love.
However, each of us must begin our return to play thoughtfully. The soccer
community has the responsibility to protect ourselves and our participants from
Covid-19 by promoting the practice of good hygiene, physical distancing and
monitoring for symptoms throughout our programming and activities.
Our COIVID-19 protocols will always be based on up-to-date
information fromAlberta
Healthand
in compliance with all advice and restrictions. Our program will be under
continual review as guidelines change and will be updated depending upon
current situation. We will be in touch just prior to the start of the season
with protocols that will likely include physical distancing, monitoring player
health with a symptom checklist, avoiding sharing equipment, water bottles,
etc.
The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing and rapidly developing
situation. We encourage our membership to monitor publicly available
information and to always follow federal, provincial and local health
organization guidance and government mandates.
