Hi Everyone,
After yesterday’s announcement by the provincial government I’ve received a few questions by email.
We are able to go ahead with the season and our start date of April 24 (weather permitting!) Soccer will look different than it has in the past, but I know that the kids will still have lots of fun. I hope that by May things will ease and we can get some games in.
Key parts of the protocol are:
– No games between different teams
– No scrimmage games within teams
– All players must remain 2m from each other
– Maximum of 10 people (including players and coaches) on the field at one time.
We are a recreational league focused on younger kids, and the main goals have always been to encourage youth to be outdoors, improve physical literacy, and have a chance to chance to be physically active with their peers. If you’ve ever watched U4 you know that they occasionally use a soccer ball too! While the conditions this year aren’t ideal I am confident that we can still have a fun, active season.
You can find the full details on our COVID-19 protocols on the website here http://soccer.tuscanyca.org/covid-19/.
Thanks,
Jamie
Thank you to all of the parents who stepped up this year to volunteer coach. Registration for the 2021 community soccer season closed on Feb 28th.
You can still access Sportzsoft here
Hi Tuscany Soccer families,
I hope this finds you well and managing life in this ‘new normal’! Planning is underway for the Spring soccer season and we are hopeful that we can have a strong soccer season this year while managing the ongoing risks of COVID-19.
With that in mind, registration for families of coaches and assistant coaches will open on February 1! If you’re planning to coach this year, please register prior to the 13th as we base the number of available player registrations on the number of coaches that we have sign. Registration for everyone else will open on Sunday, February 14th and will close on February 28th.
We are hopeful that we will be able to have a largely normal looking season this year, more on that below. If we have to cancel the season again, you will receive a full refund minus the $5 to $7 processing fees that we are charged by credit card companies. Our season will run from April 24th until June 26th.

Volunteers Needed!
As you know the TCA Soccer League is driven by the fantastic volunteers that Coach, assist, organize, schedule, and coordinate. If you’re a parent that’s interested in Coaching (there is no experience necessary!) please register when it opens on February 1st. The number of kids that can play is limited by the number of coaches we have. Coaching is a fantastic way to spend time with your kids, stay in shape, and meet new people in the community; plus we’ll give you a snazzy new whistle! For more on coaching you can go here http://soccer.tuscanyca.org/for-parents/
RESPONSIBLE RETURN TO SOCCER
Like you, we are excited to return to soccer and the game we love. However, each of us must begin our return to play thoughtfully. The soccer community has the responsibility to protect ourselves and our participants from Covid-19 by promoting the practice of good hygiene, physical distancing and monitoring for symptoms throughout our programming and activities.
Our COIVID-19 protocols will always be based on up-to-date information from Alberta Health and in compliance with all advice and restrictions. Our program will be under continual review as guidelines change and will be updated depending upon current situation. We will be in touch just prior to the start of the season with protocols that will likely include physical distancing, monitoring player health with a symptom checklist, avoiding sharing equipment, water bottles, etc.
The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing and rapidly developing situation. We encourage our membership to monitor publicly available information and to always follow federal, provincial and local health organization guidance and government mandates.
I am looking forward to a fun soccer season!

You may have heard that The City of Calgary has recently cancelled all playing field permits through June 30th. This means that we will need to cancel our 2020 community soccer program.
Thank you to everyone that volunteered to coach or manage a team, to help with equipment, or in one of the many other roles. I know that we were all very much looking forward to getting out, enjoying some Spring weather, spending time with friends and neighbours, and most of all letting the kids run off some energy.
We are working with our registration and third-party payment processor and will be able to automatically refund your soccer registration (minus the processing costs) to the credit card that was used when you registered. It will likely be end of of next week before we can process these, and then another 7-10 days for the refund to show up on your statements. I greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while we process 900+ refunds.
You may remember that you also paid a $25 TCA when you signed up. This fee helps cover administrative costs and as well as support other community initiatives and programming that the Community Association provides including the Harvest Festival, Youth Council, Community Garden, and more.
The CA is volunteer run non-profit society and the loss of soccer revenue this year will be challenging for us; being able to retain the membership fees would help substantially. We know that many families in Tuscany are also going through challenging times so if you would like a refund of your $25 membership (less processing fees) please let me know.
We are disappointed and frustrated that the kids will not have a chance to play community soccer this year, and we also recognize that this move by the City is necessary to protect the health and safety of all Calgarians.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding, I hope to see you for the 2021 season.
Thanks,
Jamie
Registration for the 2020 soccer season is now closed. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to coach, we are looking forward to a fun season.
You should hear early April about which team your child will be on.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer coach so far! We are still in need of more coaches & asst coaches.
Please sign up by Feb 13th so that we know how many spots we can open for general registration on the 15th.
Registration is now open for the families of anyone who is signing up as coach or assistant coach. (You may register all children at this time, not just the ones that you are coaching.) The number of children that can play depends solely on the number of volunteer coaches that sign up. If you’re planning to coach or assistant coach this year, please register early so that we know how many player spots to open up.
General registration opens on February 15th.
Volunteer coaching is easy and rewarding! If you’ve never coached before you can attend a free coaching clinic, and we’ll provide you all with drills, games, and practice ideas to use with the kids. Most new coaches say that after the first couple of practices they felt great, more confident and were glad they tried it. Remember, as a recreational league we put the focus on fun and fitness, and not competition.
This year we have added a U10 Saturday only option. We are keeping the U10 M/W division also. And a U12 M/W division.
